Robert Gialloreto is the President & CEO of Consumer Protection BC, a not-for-profit corporation established in 2004 to administer the province’s consumer protection laws as well as oversee consumer education, business licensing and investigations, among other areas. The corporation also classifies all movies shown in BC.
Rob's previous role was as President & CEO of Tourism Victoria, the destination marketing organization for Greater Victoria. Under his leadership, Tourism Victoria was acknowledged multiple times for marketing and business excellence. BC Business Magazine Best Companies to Work for in B.C. Awards twice named Tourism Victoria the Top Place to Work in the Not-for-Profit/Crown Corporation category.
Rob was named a Top 25 Extraordinary Mind in Sales & Marketing from Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International for 2009. Additionally, Rob has achieved the Gold Medallion of Excellence for Television Advertising from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations, as well as being named Public Relations Executive of the Year in the International Hockey League.
Rob has served as a Director on the Tourism Industry Association of Canada Board and for his work with that Board, Rob was an honoured recipient of the inaugural Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012. His past work experience includes Chief Executive Officer of Travel Alberta International, municipal government, education, and professional sports including some story-worth Olympic experience.
Rob has a Master’s Degree in Business from Springfield College in Massachusetts and an undergraduate degree from McGill University in Montreal. He enjoys playing hockey, golf, learning and cooking (his specialty, an awesome lasagna). He and his ever patient wife Christie have a 12 year old daughter, Megan.
